Jim, 50, is gregarious and goal-driven
He’s an innovative ‘ideas man’ who can see a mission through from conception to conclusion. However motivated he is, he is still hindered by one thing…. After 25 years, Jim still walks in his dreams. When he wakes, even now, he is shocked and disappointed to see his wheelchair at the end of his bed.
The only things Jim loves more than his quad bike are his wife, Marianne, and his son and daughter.
Jim’s was 25 when he crashed. It was near Birdsville during a motorcycle race from Sydney to Darwin. He was attempting to overtake a car to make up time. Because Jim was knocked unconscious in the accident, he doesn’t actually know where his crash site is. It has taken him ten years to find Bob Goad, the police officer who came to his aid at the scene. Jim hopes to meet Bob in Birdsville on the 25th anniversary of the crash so that Bob can guide him to the exact spot where his life changed.
In a twist of fate, nature is against Jim and torrential rains flood the Simpson Desert. Lakes appear where there hasn’t been water for 20 years. Reaching Birdsville becomes unlikely… Can Jim make the pilgrimage to his crash site and finally find some closure?
